Free Telephone Screening
Screening allows your student, parents, or their teachers to discuss the difficulties which are causing concern with a specialist. The screening process identifies whether a formal dyslexia assessment is appropriate; this ensures that only those with clear dyslexic tendencies are considered.
Dyslexia Assessments
Assessments are undertaken predominantly online. This is carried out in two sessions lasting approximately one and a half hours each. Both sessions take place on the same day, the first in the morning, and another in the afternoon. There is a further one hour session to feedback the results; this important stage discusses the child's strengths and weaknesses with parents and proposes personalised learning strategies.
Suitable access arrangements during examinations will be recommended within a full diagnostic report. However, it is the schools responsibility to undertake the testing necessary for these arrangements to be applied for. Should the school wish these tests to be included, they must provide a completed JCQ form 8 prior to the assessment taking place.
Previous diagnostic reports written by an assessor with an Assessment Practicing Certificate (APC) are suitable for Disabled Students Allowance (DSA) applications for university, irrespective of the students age at assessment.
